Deer Valley, which was named after Indian petroglyphs of deer found in the town, is located in Maricopa County. Its petroglyph trails attract many people to the Deer Valley Rock Art Center, which has the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Phoenix valley. The rocks are not the only sights worthy of admiration; the mountain backdrop and desert land make for a beautiful setting virtually any time of the year.
