San Manuel is a commuter town located in the San Pedro River Valley in the southeastern part of Pinal County. It was founded in 1952 to serve the San Manuel copper mine, which has been closed since 2003 but the town is still very much alive today. Desert flora paint the otherwise sand-colored town, and it makes for a beautiful scenic drive, especially down Pinal Pioneer Parkway.
